Question: in the multiverse theory, is it true that any action taken in one universe will and always has an alternat e reaction in an other?

  1. Don’t need a multiverse for that – the idea of parallel universes is very much just an idea with no definite proof that it’s right.
In our universe, though, physical actions have equal and opposite reactions. Anyone who’s ever played pool knows this really well.

  2. I was reading about the multiverse theory the other day for a different question. I think the idea is that there is a Universe for every single possible option of everything ever. So that would definitely include Universes for alternate reactions to actions in other Universes. As well a trillions of others for every other possibility.

I wouldn’t say I actually understand the multiverse theory, I was just boggled by the idea that everything that is possible could be going on somewhere all at once.

  1. Hi tlafjex,

You’re basically right, though I would put it the other way round. The idea of ‘multiverse’ type theories (of which there are many) is that for every possible alternative action/result/thing-that-happens (not necessarily the one ‘opposite’ or ‘alternate’ thing), there is a universe in which that action/result/thing is true.
