Question: if you had 24 hours to live what would you want to achieve?

  1. Well, as much as I love science, I wouldn’t spend my final 24 hours in the lab!

I haven’t thought about this too much, but I think I’d spend the time eating lots of good food and spending time with my family and friends. Perhaps not much of an achievement, but time well spent I think 🙂

  2. Yes, I would spend it with my wife and boy and try to see my friends and family… Doing something in 24 hours is pretty hard in science – most things that are important take longer than that. Someone in another chat room asked if a pancreas was flammable. If, on the way to seeing my family and friends, I came across a pancreas, I could answer that question in 24 hours I reckon. But it wouldn’t be top priority.

  3. Agree with Bridget and Matt. If I only had 24 hours, I’d spend it with family and friends. Often, people are too quick to complain or criticise. In the novel “The Bridge of San Luis Rey”, one of the key characters realises that she never said “I love you” to her daughter (they had a fight or something) until after her daughter died. I’d want to make sure that I had said thank you and I love you to family and friends.

  4. It’s funny how much our priorities would change if we only had a short amount of time left. If I had a couple of months then I would want to go travelling, spend all my money on ridiculous things and have lots of time with family friends.

If it was just 24 hours then it would just be family, friends and food. Priorities 🙂

  5. This one is easy to answer. I had a recent health scare and it really forced me to look at my priorities.

I that time with family and friends. And I would also switch off my mobile phone and disconnect completely from the Internet while I did so.
