Question: what are the components of blood

Keywords: ,

  1. Blood is made up of approximately 45% blood cells and 55% plasma.

Plasma is mostly water, as well as small amounts of dissolved gases, proteins, nutrients, wastes and hormones.

The cell component contains a lot of red blood cells and quite a lot of white blood cells (these are the immune cells which protect against infection). There is also platelets, which aren’t really cells, but small fragments of cells. Platelets help us to heal wounds by forming clots.
