Question: how long does it take a sunflower to flower?

Keywords: ,

  1. What a nice question. I don’t know. I would guess it depends on the strength of the sun, and the temperature around the flower and how much water and nutrients it has. If you’re talking about growth from scratch, I would 2 months? If you mean how long it takes to become a flower once it’s grown, then less.

Rather than looking it up or asking people, you could always take the science approach and do it. Convince someone who likes you to buy some seeds and let you plant them, then count the days.

When they’ve reached full bloom you can try to work out the maths formula that describes the patterns of the little seeds in the centre of the flower – so pretty.
