Seriously, no-one knows. It is an impossible question because one cannot arise without the other. But they both exist, so they had to come from somewhere.
I’m going to say that I think the ancestor of the chicken came first. It was quite like a chicken, but it evolved from a more ancient animal. Then at some stage, this chicken ancestor evolved a bit more and started laying eggs. Maybe it was a chicken by then or maybe there was a bit more evolution before it became the chicken we know and love today.
Which doesn’t really answer the question because they still had to evolve together, chicken producing egg and egg producing chicken.
