Question: Since ur profile pic is you sitting on eggs, do you know much about chooks?

  1. I know a few things about chooks. Did you know that the way the shell is created on a chicken egg is the same way it happens in lizards? The egg starts out without a shell when it comes out of the ovary. Before it is laid, the muscles in the oviduct make the egg spin. There are little glands in the oviduct that make tiny strands of eggshell and these get wound around the egg as it spins. The glands then put calcium on the outside of the egg, then the egg gets laid.

You can also occasionally get chicken eggs with a double yolk, although it is rare. What else would you like to know?
